About the Department:
To educate students to become lawyers, the Antonin Scalia Law School has designated a curriculum that addresses three of the most pressing requirements of contemporary legal practice: facility with economic and quantitative methods, the increasing need for specialization, and a thorough grounding in fundamental skills of legal research, writing & analysis. George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School is located in Arlington, VA, just two miles from downtown Washington, D.C., and is a Top 50 law school. About the Position:
The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for responding to applicant and prospective student inquires, mailing materials, maintaining applicant files, and performing clerical and office tasks necessary to support the office.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the application processing lifecycle from application creation to enrollment to support the attainment of critical admissions objectives;
- Processes all applications from submission to decision or matriculation, maintains records on applications and admissions decisions, and coordinates communication with applicants regarding missing documents, transcripts, and scores;
- Monitors applicant status and ensures that all required application documentation is received within established deadlines;
- Maintains accurate data on applicant status, new applications, withdrawals, scholarships, and yield;
- Collaborates with the Associate Dean on admissions annual updates, including tracking, testing, and implementation;
- Addresses logistical challenges to ensure the admissions process is running smoothly;
- Maintains all student records in Banner and Unite;
- Coordinates with various Mason offices to ensure student visas are processed.
- Manages and executes the Admissions decision process, including mailing decision letters and scholarship letters and sending decision emails;
- Manages the mailing of recruitment materials to prospective students and admitted students.
- Performs a range of administrative duties, including clerical tasks, handling reimbursement processes and purchasing for the Admissions Office, and managing office tasks, as required;
- Assists with special projects assigned by the Associate Dean of Admissions;
- Controls one of the generic inboxes for the Admissions Office;
- Assists with phone coverage;
- Assists with recruitment event preparation and closing, including creating nametags, registering Scalia Law for recruitment events, and processing payment reimbursement;
- Maintains knowledge of the application process and Scalia Law School to help assist with recruitment;
- Participates in recruitment activities as required; and
- Performs other related duties to the position as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Demonstrated organizational skills;
- Customer service-orientated attitude;
- Demonstrated ability to exercise substantial attention to detail;
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and computer databases;
- Ability to independently manage and complete work assignments without close supervision;
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed; and
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with admissions, student recruitment, and/or enrollment management;
- Experience with ACES2, Unite or Banner; and
- Experience with data entry.
