Title:Assistant Professor of Education Concentration: Literacy Division: Provost's Office Department: Pott College of Science, Engineering, & Education EEO Job Group:2 C5 Position Summary The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education with a focus in Literacy/Reading to begin August 2025. Duties/Responsibilities The faculty member is expected to teach literacy using the science of reading approach for undergraduate education majors, teach graduate courses for in-service teachers, advise students, serve on dissertation committees, engage in service-related activities including participation in departmental, college, and university committees and professional organizations; and initiate research and grant activities leading to scholarly presentations and publications. Required Knowledge and Skills A Doctorate in Education with a focus on literacy or a closely related field is required along with a minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience in a P-6 classroom setting. Doctoral candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor if the terminal degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment. If employment starts in August 2025, terminal degree must be completed by the end of July 2026.
