Traffic Discipline Manager (Relocation Offered + $10,000 Signing Bonus)

Position Overview

As our new teammate you will serve as the technical and business development manager for our Traffic Engineering Discipline. Building on our established team of talented professionals, we will work together to craft a vision to enhance staff development and broaden the scope of our traffic engineering and planning services across our 24 offices. In addition to managing local clients and tasks, the traffic discipline manager will leverage creative problem-solving skills to support other markets and regions with high-profile, technically complex traffic and planning studies. As engineering professionals, we plan, design and permit transportation infrastructure across the U.S. Your work at Hanson will balance the societal benefits of the built-environment with nature.

This position is planned for Hanson's Indianapolis, Indiana office, but other locations could be considered for the right candidate.

Opportunities

Team Leadership

  • Mentor, develop, and recruit traffic engineering staff across multiple office locations.
  • Define the group's vision, formulate a growth strategy, and establish goals.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and practices.
  • Actively participate in and promote our Quality Assurance Program.

Project Development

  • Partner with project managers and business development staff to procure and deliver traffic engineering and transportation planning studies, reports, and projects on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with team members across the company to execute projects and prepare technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to forecast traffic engineering needs and assign resources.

Growth Opportunities

  • Work with technical personnel to ensure Hanson's position as a technical leader in the industry.
  • Provide input to the strategic planning process for current and future technical areas of competency, as well as emerging technologies and practices.
  • Build and manage relationships with key clients.
  • Take a leading role in marketing, project pursuits, design, and production meetings.

Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, and/or Vissim.
  • Understanding of the Highway Safety Manual and Highway Capacity Manual.
  • Familiarity with travel demand modeling concepts. Experience with Visum, Cube, and/or TransCAD software is desirable.
  • Experience with roadway design software such as OpenRoads Designer (preferred), PowerInroads, or Civil 3D.

Soft Skills:

  • Building effective relationships with internal and external client bases.
  • Communicating complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.

Education/Training:

  • BS or MS in civil engineering or related degree.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive transportation and traffic engineering experience.
  • At minimum, possess an active Professional Engineers license in Indiana or the ability to obtain within six (6) months.
  • Supervisory experience, especially with managing staff across multiple geographies, is desirable.
  • PTOE certification is desirable.
