Location: Lakewood, Washington (Joint Base Lewis-McChord)

Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-time, Swing Shift

Compensation: $21.77 - $21.77/hour

Skookum is seeking a motivated and reliable Janitor with a professional attitude. As a Janitor with Skookum, you will perform a variety of cleaning tasks to include sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal. Additionally, you will work directly with a teammate on an assigned route across Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Restroom Cleaning - sanitize and clean all toilets, urinals, sinks, fixtures, partitions, walls & doors. Restock supplies. Collect trash and replace liners. Sweep and mop floor. Follow cross contamination procedures.
  • Office Cleaning - sweep, mop, vacuum according to schedule.
  • Halls and High Traffic area Cleaning - sweep, mop, vacuum according to schedule.
  • Entrances and Exits Cleaning - sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean entry doors according to schedule.
  • Trash - Empty trash in office areas, lunchrooms, coffee areas, restrooms, shower/locker according to schedule.
  • Supply Restocking - restock supplies according to schedule.
  • Dusting - dusting in restrooms, shower/locker areas, according to schedule.
  • Stairwell Cleaning - sweep, mop, vacuum, and wipe handrails according to schedule.
  • Shower Cleaning - clean all shower stalls, damp wipe for dust, restock supplies, mop floors following cross contamination procedures.
  • Janitorial Supply Closet/Locker - keep clean and organized.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to communicate with others in a courteous and helpful way.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain stamina to perform assigned duties.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements:

  • Valid state driver license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum's insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
