R&D Intern - Software/Electrical (Andover, MA)

The R&D intern program will consist of a robust induction plan followed by a 3-month internship across various facets of our Research & Development organization within the Sports Medicine Franchise at S+N. The position will be based in Andover, Massachusetts.

What will you be doing?

  • This opportunity will involve working with a small team ofElectrical and Software Engineers to conduct state-of-the-art research and development of next generationof medical products related to sports medicine.

  • Responsibilities include developingand testing new productfeatures.

  • Work closely with managers to complete specifically identified internship projects

  • Present project conclusion to senior leadership

  • Create documentation as required by the Smith and Nephew Quality Management System

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education:

    • Enrolled in an undergraduate Engineering program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science field at an accredited university.

    • Major GPA of 3.50 or above preferred

    • At least Junior and have taken Basic Electrical Engineering and/or programming courses.

  • Experience:

    • Previous applicable internship, part-time or apprenticeship experience is preferred.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Design experience with electrical and/or software engineering concepts. School projects in embedded systems, C/C++ and/or FPGA are preferable.

  • Basic understanding and experience with testing electrical or software designs.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical and/or software engineering concepts.

  • High learning agility

  • Strong written and verbal communication and technical writing skills

  • Analytical approach to problem solving.

  • Experience in the medical device field or other regulated field
