Position Summary:

Candidates in the technical fields of science, engineering, or physics will apply newly acquired knowledge to technical assignments and gain valuable, hands-on experience for their future careers. Project assignments include dispensing characterization of different polymer formulations, dispensing material process optimization and rheology characterization of dispensing materials. Candidates will be required to present project updates to the team and staff. Candidates will gain experience across the breadth of Parker products, internal processes and systems, and technical customer requirements. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs assignments designed to develop professional working knowledge and abilities that may include cross-functional experience. Assignments are at a professional level and are vital to the applied material knowledge for Parker's Customers, Engineers and R&D team.
  2. Actively acquires on-the-job training and knowledge of specialized scientific or engineering principles and techniques required for Parker products.
  3. Performs a variety of technical assignments to provide experience and familiarization with the technical or engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs of the company.
  4. The candidate will gain experience with six sigma statistical process control fundamentals including, but not limited to, process mapping, Failure Mode Element Analysis (FMEA), measurement system evaluation, gage R&R, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  5. Assists team members to accomplish their project assignments by completing specific analysis or well-defined portions of the overall assignment. Will gain experience with project management techniques and participates in design or similar program reviews.
  6. Attends internal trainings/meetings and applies in work assignments. Learns to apply methods, measurements, and techniques for continuous improvement.
  7. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include participation with a cross-functional project team.

Qualifications:

  1. Currently enrolled in, or completed degree in related field, such as: Polymer Science, Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
  2. Candidate shall have completed sophomore year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Fundamental understanding of safe laboratory practices for product development and characterization.
  4. Fundamental understanding of statistical analysis.
  5. Ability to work effectively on a variety of scientific, engineering, and manufacturing assignments.
  6. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team member.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  9. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
