Inpatient Psychiatric Registered Nurse Langley Porter Mount Zion Psych Inpatient Full Time 81449BR Job Summary Nursing Staff provides direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients presenting with the full spectrum of psychiatric diagnosis admitted to the Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital, inpatient unit. Under general supervision of the assigned charge nurse, nursing supervisor and nurse manager, the psychiatric RN performs nursing assessments, administers prescribed medications, and implements established nursing interventions utilizing current clinical knowledge of psychiatric and medical illnesses. The nursing assessment includes but is not limited to, collecting vital signs, current medication list and the patient's medical and psychiatric histories. From the nursing assessment findings, the nurse establishes and implements the nursing care plan. The nurse updates the nursing care plan and the multi-disciplinary treatment plan as indicated throughout the patient's admission. The nurse provides teaching and information to patients and families about prescribed medications and illness/symptom management. The Nurse documents all medication administration, nursing assessment findings and nursing interventions in the EMR. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
