The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University invites applications for two full time, tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. One position is targeted to candidates working in the broad area of regenerative engineering. The other position is open to applicants across the full range of biomedical engineering disciplines, including experimental and computational approaches.

About the Opportunity

We seek candidates who can contribute to the dynamic, collaborative community in our department. A PhD is required. We anticipate a start date of 9/1/25, but other dates are possible.

About the Department

Faculty in Northwestern BME are embedded across the University, with strong connections to other engineering departments within the McCormick School of Engineering and to clinical research in the Feinberg School of Medicine. These connections provide extensive opportunities for faculty to build collaborative, interdisciplinary, and translational research teams. BME faculty currently secure greater than $35M in annual research funding and direct 5 NIH T32 training programs. BME faculty lead or participate in several university-wide collaborative research Centers and Institutes, including the Center for Advanced Regenerative Engineering, the Center for Physical Genomics Engineering, the Center for Engineering in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics, the Lurie Cancer Center, the Center for Synthetic Biology, and the Center for Innovative Global Health Technologies. We also have established strengths in neural engineering, biomedical imaging (MRI, biophotonics), and biomechanics/rehabilitation engineering. Further information about the department can be found online: https://www.mccormick.northwestern.edu/biomedical/
