Position Description:
Purpose
Under general supervision provide support for department research through projects, maintenance and communication of data, and execution of laboratory experiments. Carry out experiments under the supervision and support for sponsored research projects.
Primary Functions
- Design and conduct new experiments under supervision and operate specialized equipment and software used in research.
- Perform routine experiments and daily work timely and independently, including animal metabolic/behavioral assays, tissue/cell cultures, fluorescence imaging studies, PCR, etc. Collect, analyze, and report experimental data with accurate records.
- Manage and maintain mouse colonies.
- Conduct assigned duties, such as routine lab maintenance, monitoring compliance, ordering supply, and record keeping, protocol implementation, etc.
- Assist with team members and the principal investigator on experiments and research projects.
- Participate in lab meetings and research collaborations.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
Basic knowledge of cell biology/neuroscience/biochemistry.
Complex problem solving, critical thinking, time management, and communication/writing skills.
Rodent/mouse handling skills.
Preferred Schedule:
M-F 8:30-5, but may vary
Position Requirements:
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on equivalent basis
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree in scientific field
Minimum Required Experience: No experience required
Preferred Education:
Preferred Experience: Rodent associate research, basic experience with mouse colony management (including genotyping).
