Summary of Position Functions
The Work Study Intern will work closely with Project Managers, Operations Managers, and Project Engineers in the Energy Department. The Work Study Intern will be responsible for learning company policies, company software, workplace expectations, and assisting Operations Managers, Project Managers, and Project Engineers in day-to-day tasks.
Essential Position Functions
- Accompany engineers during project site visits as practical and assist with site data collection.
- Gain an understanding of design/analysis software used by engineers to assist with design tasks. Software may include: AutoCAD, customized spreadsheet calculations, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, DOE Energy Plus, or other software.
- Document materials and equipment use, as well as any problems that arise.
- Assist in the preparation of project reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and technicians, to ensure project success.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure project files are up to date and accurate.
- Review Energy Data Compilation.
- Evaluate energy bills, energy usage, and energy cost and gain an understanding of the summaries and analytical use of such data.
- Review Energy Use Calculations and Energy and Operational Savings Calculations.
- Review Facility Assessments for ECM's as background for Energy Audits.
- Gain practical knowledge on reading and understanding MEP Drawings.
- Review permitting Process (ROE) (what is needed, job permitting, final walkthroughs, and acceptance prior to receiving final Occupancy Permit).
- Accompany Project Managers during site walkthroughs.
- Attend project meetings to gain exposure to how Veregy manages projects and how managers interact with customers and subcontractors.
- Assemble and record meeting documentations, meeting notes, project pictures, etc...
- Gain familiarity with Veregy's Construction Web Portal to efficiently share information.
- Collage project data to assist Senior Project Managers and Operations Managers
- Provide feedback to management on the intern experience.
- Follows company safety policies.

- Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
- Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems and software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively before customers and staff.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions.
