General Purpose Under the supervisor of the MACR Manager, the Head Barista is responsible for managing all the operational aspects for the Starbucks when regular management isn't available. They also provide quality food service to members and guests of the Michigan Athletic Club and ensure their shift is doing the same. Essential Duties
- Open and close the Starbucks on time as appropriate.
- Ensure security of the Starbucks including, but not limited to, making sure exit doors are secure and that access to the Starbucks is only through known designated areas (entry through club and outside entry).
- Ensure that all Baristas are on site and prepared for work. Work back directly with the MACR Manager to provide recognition, address performance issue, or find solutions for staffing shortages.
- Provide and/or support all teams to provide the highest levels of customer service.
- Inspect and coordinate building maintenance items reported on shift. Work with Environmental Services and Maintenance Departments to address issues beyond capabilities.
- Conduct all POS procedures including nightly cash-outs, drawer exchange, change-out and other related duties.
- Attendance to all Sparrow and/or MACR meetings and trainings is required.
- Assists in the preparation, sale and distribution of food and beverage items at all MAC sites with the emphasis on Starbucks.
- Stocks, sorts, and puts away food, supplies, dishes, and other items used by the department.
- Performs accurate cash handling functions as assigned.
- Ensures accurate charging for all items, for every guest, for every transaction.
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment, work, and storage areas thoroughly and accurately.
- Disposes of trash, refuse and recycling.
- Maintains standards for quality, safety, sanitation, and communication
- Adheres to all safety practices and procedures.
- Engages in positive and proactive communication with co-workers, guests, patients, and other Caregivers.
- Contributes to and supports Goals and Objectives of the MACR and the Health System.
- Maintains hospital standards through speech and action, leading by example to support and demonstrate ICARE values.
- Demonstrates and encourages exceptional customer service.
- Adheres to the established dress code and standards for personal appearance and hygiene.

Work Experience |
* Minimum of one year of customer service experience * Previous food service experience preferred * Previous Starbucks experience preferred |
Education |
* High School Diploma or GED or Certificate of Achievement as an Adult Education High School Equivalency. |
