Social Worker, MSW Oncology Part Time Day
POSITION SUMMARY:
To screen, assess and evaluate patients and their families to identify psychosocial and discharge planning needs and develop appropriate interventions. To educate, counsel, and refer as indicated. To plan and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team and community resources.
EDUCATION:
Masters degree in social work from an accredited program.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous social work experience preferred. Oncology experience preferred
SPECIAL SKILLS:
New Jersey Social Work License required. MSW and LSW or LCSW required. Effective group process skills. Effective oral and written communication skills to express ideas clearly. Effective listening skills. Ability to pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing patient needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying. Ability to work cooperatively with patients, family member, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e. , physicians, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Lab, etc.).Ability to use effective management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use effective analytical and critical thinking skills to problem-solve.
