Responsibilities

We are seeking an Operating Room Charge Nurse also referred to as a Surgical Charge Nurse at Providence Medical Center (Kansas City, KS) a member of Prime Healthcare. The OR Charge Nurse will smooth functioning of surgical services within our hospital. Someone who is essential in maintaining a safe, efficient, and effective operating room environment, ensuring that both patients and surgical teams are supported throughout the process.

Bonus Options: $20,000 (Paid out in stipends every 90 days)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

    oversee the nursing staff and other personnel in the operating room, including roles and responsibilities, managing shift schedules, and ensuring that all staff are adequately prepared for their duties
  • coordinate the daily surgical schedule, ensure that all surgeries are properly staffed, supplies are available, and that operating rooms are prepared in a timely manner
  • act as a liaison between surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate effective communication and collaboration during surgical procedures.
  • ensure that all safety protocols are followed to protect patients from infections and other complications, which may include monitoring sterilization processes, patient positioning, and adherence to surgical checklists
  • oversee patient care before, during, and after surgery, ensure that all necessary preparations are made and that patients are monitored closely
  • ensure that all necessary surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and functioning correctly, you may also manage inventory and work with suppliers to replenish stock
  • confirm that all procedures within the OR comply with hospital policies, regulations, and accreditation standards
  • may be responsible for documenting various aspects of the surgery, including patient information, staff assignments, and any incidents that occur during the surgical procedure


Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • current and valid state RN License
  • current BLS (AHA or ARC) upon hire and maintain current
  • current ACLS (AHA or ARC) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • current PALS (AHA or ARC) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • previous supervisory experience, one to two years, in acute care hospital Surgical OR setting, preferred
  • minimum of 5 years experience in an acute care operating room preferred
  • CNOR within 2 years, preferred
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred
  • competency in Sedation Monitoring within 30 days upon hire and maintain current
