Responsibilities

The Clinical Director (Registered Nurse, RN) is responsible for overseeing and directing the patient care operations of the home care facility under the direction of the Home Health Executive Director.


  • Coordinates and completes assigned projects to effectively support the immediate and long-range objectives of the company.


  • Oversees the eligibility of patients referred to home care services, planning for the services to be provided to patients and supervising their total home health care.


  • Implements and maintains administrative practices, agency philosophy, goals, and policies which assure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.


  • Enhances the profitability of the agency and engages with the team to assure the quality of services delivered.



Education and Experience

  • At least five years of clinical experience required, preferably in the home environment; specific hospice and/or palliative care experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of palliative care and ability to communicate professionally with referral sources, healthcare partners, and colleagues concerning disease trajectory, clinical assessment, and appropriate intervention in a variety of arenas of care, such as palliative care and advanced illness management, including but not limited to physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
  • Understands and supports the role of the nurse practitioner in the palliative care/hospice environment.
  • Experienced in areas of leadership, finance, budgeting, quality, compliance, customer service, growth, and team building.
  • Demonstrates ability to problem solve independently with colleagues and customers; exhibits sound judgment.
  • Experienced in managing office staff, clinical professionals, and providers.
  • Able to balance work load and prioritize multiple tasks on a daily basis while maintaining positive affect and demeanor of servant leadership.
  • Able to shift focus easily throughout the work day and handle sensitive issues with thoughtful regard and prioritization of action/outcome.


License Requirements



  • Minimum: Active RN licensure in state of practice
  • Strongly preferred: Advance Practice RN licensure (Nurse Practitioner)
  • Preferred: Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) or Advanced CHPN
  • Current CPR, driver's license, valid vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle required
