About the Role: As a Traffic Signal Design Engineer, you will apply a diverse range of engineering principles and practices to design and optimize traffic signal systems. You will be entrusted with making independent decisions on critical engineering problems and methodologies, ensuring project success from concept to implementation. Key Responsibilities: * Traffic Signal System Design: Apply your in-depth knowledge of traffic signal design and operations, including signal optimization and systems, to develop and execute traffic signal design plans. * Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrate thorough familiarity with the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD) to ensure compliance with state standards in all designs. * Independent Plan Preparation: Prepare traffic signal design plans with minimal direction, including conduit schedules, specifications, and all required elements for a complete and accurate design. * Plan Coordination: Coordinate traffic signal designs with signing and pavement marking plans to ensure seamless integration of all traffic control elements. * Supervision & Technical Guidance: Lead subordinate engineering designers, providing guidance on signal design tasks, monitoring project progress, and ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with project specifications. * Project Development: Design a variety of traffic signal projects using survey data and other design information, producing detailed drawings for signal installations, pavement markings, and signage. Develop accurate engineer's estimates for the probable cost of construction. * Design Software Proficiency: Utilize AutoCAD as the primary design tool, ensuring all designs meet project requirements and are delivered on time. * Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with other engineering and planning disciplines, coordinating design activities to ensure projects are completed within scope, on schedule, and within budget. * Field Investigations: Conduct site visits for project field reviews, investigations, and surveys, including CCTV site surveys and signal equipment inventories. Coordinate with local and state highway agencies to gather as-built information and utility providers for power connection and underground infrastructure identification. Basic Qualifications:
