Position Highlights

The research scientist will be involved in overseeing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and intracranial EEG studies in the lab. This will include leading several projects and training and overseeing other projects. The research scientist is expected to assist with PI grant submissions and complete independent grant submissions. Successful receipt of extra-mural funding is an additional expectation.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • fMRI, intracranial, and behavioral data analysis: This will include analyses of primary projects initiated in conjunction with the PI as well as assisting others with data analysis in the lab. fMRI analysis will include univariate and multivariate analyses as well as functional and structural connectivity analyses.
  • Experimental design: In conjunction with the PI, the research scientist will design novel paradigms to test spatiotemporal components of memory and navigation. The research scientist will also assist others in the lab with details of experimental design.
  • Programming and implementation of experiments: The research scientist will assist with programming in Unity (Landmarks) and other stimulus presentation programming languages like PsychoPy.
  • Data collection: Data collection will involve testing subjects behaviorally in the lab and at the Univ. of Arizona Imaging Center. In some instances, the research scientist will oversee other staff/students collecting data. Subjects will involve healthy younger and older adults.
  • Grant writing/Manuscript preparation and successful obtaining of extramural funding: In conjunction with the PI, as well as independently, the research scientist will submit novel grant applications to NIH and NSF. Upon completion of data analyses, the research scientist, in conjunction with the PI, will prepare and edits papers with the PI.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, or other science related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years postdoctoral training.
