What you'll do

Are you in the market for a new role with an innovative organization? We are now seeking a new NPI Engineer for our Carlsbad, CA location! New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering is a value-add role in the product development process. The NPI Engineer works with operational and business functions in support of hardware build activities during development supporting aggressive development schedules. In addition, the NPI Engineer works with Ops functional team members in preparation for LRIP builds and production ramp.


The day-to-day

  • Support prototype hardware planning and build activity.
  • Interact with product development teams in support of product development schedule.
  • Interact with Operational support groups (planning, supply chain, DFM, Mfg Eng, QA, etc.).
  • Apply your product development knowledge and experience, provide guidance and recommendations to the teams.
  • Ensure product designs support production readiness

What you'll need

  • Quality oriented engineer with 7+ years' experience in development of sophisticated electronic hardware under aggressive schedule constraints.
    • Engineering background with a "can-do" mindset. Eager to get involved and willing to accept any task in support of the program needs.
    • Broad based, hands-on, engineering-level involvement in support of electronic hardware manufacturing (process, methods, risk mitigation, etc.). Experience supporting both outsourced work at contract manufacturers and in-house assembly and test.
      • Key areas of experience include: Fabrication and assembly of sophisticated electronics, box build assembly, wire and harness fabrication, metal fabrication, wet processes (paint, plating, conformal coat).
    • Strong understanding of structured development process including preparation and presentations at gate reviews, configuration management, BOM creation, procurement systems, contractual flow-down requirements etc.
    • Knowledge of applicable regulations, IPC specifications, workmanship, etc.
    • Core member of the hardware development team.
  • US Citizenship required
  • Up to 10% travel

What will help you on the job

  • Previous experience in an NPI Engineering role supporting electronics and hardware fabrication, assembly, and production planning. Space experience in the above is a plus.
  • Candidates located within a commutable distance from Carlsbad, CA highly desired.

Salary range

$126,700.00 - $186,600.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $157,300.00- $220,200.00/ annually
