Description

Under general supervision, the Administrative Nurse, provides generalized nursing subject-matter expertise and program oversight to the OCM and its partners and stakeholders and performs nursing program assessments, evaluations, interventions, monitoring and education for justice-involved populations. This position requires travel to, but not limited to, correctional facilities.

Examples of Duties

1. Serves as an OCM nursing subject-matter expert and clinical resource to leadership, clerical and ancillary personnel, partners and stakeholders. Develops, evaluates and monitors clinic nursing plans and practices for justice-involved populations and individuals and recommends changes as needed. Consults with OCM leadership to develop appropriate clinic protocols and service healthcare delivery methods.
2u Develops programs and counsels partners, stakeholders and justice-involved groups and individuals on topics related to OCM, nursing and healthcare. Assists with data collection regarding patient-related issues including maintaining database/referral network of health services.
3. Assists in development, revision and implementation of protocols for assigned clinic and assists with training on and communication of changes.
4. Analyzes OCM's partner and stakeholder nursing programs, policies, practices and administrative directories and identifies opportunities for improvement and continuous process improvement, trending and gaps; makes recommendations to improve the health of justice-involved populations.
5. Assists with training related to OCM healthcare service delivery and education of residents, medical students and other allied health professionals; provides continuing education opportunities to OCM staff and assists with the development of training materials.
6. Performs regular, detailed documents and record audits to ensure necessary and appropriate documentation is accurate and follows policies and procedures; liaises with nurses, doctors, and healthcare and correctional professionals to evaluate data, reports and analysis to showcase audit findings; coordinates and expedites necessary actions to assure continuity of service to OCM internally and externally.
7. Maintains an overall awareness of organizational activities of import or impact to the designated member(s) of the unit staff and the unit; develops and trains OCM staff and partners on ethical, compassionate and non-judgmental aspects and techniques needed in the performance of services.
8. Consistently supports compliance by maintaining privacy/confidentiality of information, displaying ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and license requirements (if applicable) and to current IDOC and SIU School of Medicine policies and procedures. Maintain a HIPPA compliant environment for patients.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

  1. Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois.
