The California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) is one of four UC-based California Initiatives for Science and Innovation (Cal-ISI). Brief Summary of Job Duties: The lab manager is responsible for maintaining lab organization, including managing lab equipment and supplies and training other personnel on laboratory practices. It also conducts inventory and ordering and advances lab efficiency and sustainability practices. The lab manager also acts as the safety officer and coordinator. The manager is responsible for instruction and training on laboratory protocols and maintaining the lab's strain archive and sample database. Required Qualifications:

Job Functions and Percentages of Time: 50% Lab Equipment - Responsible for equipment maintenance and upkeep in the lab. Schedules equipment service and orders replacement items as needed. Keeps accurate records of lab equipment, supplies, chemical inventory, and strain database. 25% Lab Training - Trains other personnel on use of highly specialized lab equipment operations which requires high level expertise in a biological laboratory. Trains personnel on lab procedures and protocols, to ensure proper equipment use and research integrity. 25% Safety Officer - - Responsible for lab safety operations and training. Ensures Standard Operating Procedures are followed. Works with PI to update lab safety protocols. Ensures new lab users are adequately trained in lab procedures and coordinates biohazard disposal. - Responsible for lab safety operations and training.
