Major/Essential Functions


  • Performs a variety of specialized clerical and technical duties in support of law enforcement activities.
  • Reviews police reports and supplemental reports from officers for entry into CAD system.
  • Organizes, files and maintains records.
  • Scans and distribute copies of police reports for courts, departments and other agencies as necessary.
  • Perform a monthly audit of stolen items entered into the NCIC/TLETS systems.
  • Assembles and reviews information from various sources for records and reports, and submits as necessary.
  • Provides a variety of police related information to the public and governmental agencies.
  • Classifies crimes for NIBRS reporting.
  • Prepares, files and distributes criminal reports as required; provides releasable information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Answer phones and take messages for employees.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school or equivalent and five years experience. Additional job related education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of Law Enforcement Telecommunications System, National Crime Information Center, FBI Uniform Crime Reporting policies and procedures and NIBRS. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of legal terminology for law enforcement, judicial work and the various clerical procedures required under specific regulations.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement methods, procedures, and terminology. Ability to operate office equipment including computers supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of the principles and practices of data entry.
