The Police Lieutenant manages and supervises law enforcement and non-law enforcement activities for the University Police Department.

Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Coordinates police services and security coverage for all properties.
- Supervises the Police Services section or the Support Services section as assigned.
- Reviews CAD entries, incident reports, and other documentation for appropriate follow-up.
- Reviews incoming reports to disseminate to other campus partners.
- Coordinates department training programs.
- Supervises staff assigned to the institution's Clery Act Compliance program and is responsible for the development and implementation of the institution's Clery compliance policies and procedures.
- Assists with the preparation, publishing, and distribution of the Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report.
- Serves on institutional committees representing the interests of the department.
- Assists in developing UPD policies and procedures.
- Assists in preparing operating budgets and performs ongoing budget analysis.
- Prepares and provides various reports to the Chief of Police.
- Advises law enforcement personnel regarding new laws, regulations, procedures, and assignments.
- Serves as law enforcement liaison with outside law enforcement and other regulatory agencies.
- Prepares administrative reports.
- Conducts background and other internal personnel investigations.
- Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.
Other Duties:
- Pursues, apprehends, and arrests law violators or suspected law violators.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description Required Qualifications:
- This position requires either seven years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, an Associate's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- 60 credit hours of degree-seeking coursework.
- Must meet the requirements of chapter 943.13 F.S.
- Successful completion of background screening requirements.
- Relevant, full-time experience as a law enforcement officer or sworn investigative officer.
- Valid driver's license.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree earned from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice or closely related field.
- 7 Years relevant, full-time experience as a sergeant or higher.
- Experience with budgeting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Experience with Clery Compliance and preparation, publishing, and distribution of the Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report.
- Experience operating personal computers with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of budget control principles, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate personal computers and learn new applications and systems.
- Knowledge of Clery Compliance and the preparation, publishing, and distribution of the Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report.
