POSITION SUMMARY: Y Teen L.I.F.E. provides youth centric programming that inspires a generation of young leaders to change the world. The ideal candidate has a commitment to youth work, asset development and the overall holistic development of teens. Candidate will implement cause-driven and high quality YMCA teen programs and experiences focused on leadership development, college access, career readiness and civic engagement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: *Daily Operations: Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans. Leads participants in successfully completion of all aspects of the teen leadership experience. Facilitates leadership development opportunities and support to all participants. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards. Maintains required program records. Leadership: Supervises teens under the direction of the Program Director or Manager. Makes sound decisions in alignment with YMCA standards. Acts as a role model to the teens by exemplifying the YMCA's five core values. Relationship Building: Maintains communication with participants and engages parents. Maintains positive relations with teen, parents, school personnel, and other staff. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings. *Child Abuse Prevention: Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements. Ensures youth are properly signed in and signed out, ensures only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with each child. Ensures unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitors high-risk locations (bathrooms), etc. YMCA COMPETENCIES (YOUTH DEVELOPMENT LEADER) Mission Advancement: Accepts and demonstrates the Y's values.
