Part-time Literacy Coach

Job Description

To provide individualized and small group reading and writing instruction to Adult Education students. To help students improve their literacy skills, using an array of teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Evaluating students' reading abilities and identifying areas for improvement
• Developing individualized learning plans based on students' literacy needs
• Teaching reading and writing skills using various teaching methods
• Monitoring students' progress and adjusting instructional techniques as necessary
• Providing feedback to students and their teachers about progress and areas for improvement
• Preparing educational materials and resources to aid in instruction
• Keeping records of student's performance and attendance
• Collaborating with teachers and other educational professionals to develop strategies to assist struggling students
• Encouraging students and providing emotional support to build confidence in their reading and writing abilities in preparation to pass the GED exam

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field. Experience in teaching Language Arts courses to include reading and writing experience. Knowledge of best practices and instructional strategies in literacy and methods to evaluate students.

Clearances:

• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
• Tuberculosis Skin Test

Salary Hourly: $30.00

Hours: 2 days per week 6-8 hours per week
