Utz Quality Foods is currently seeking a Maintenance Manager to work from our manufacturing facility in Kings Mountain, NC. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for mechanical/electrical maintenance of equipment. The Maintenance Manager will direct the maintenance department in repairs of equipment, machinery installations and managing wastewater treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities



  • Responsible for manufacturing productivity and product quality from a maintenance standpoint.
  • Establishes and maintains aggressive programs to minimize the amount of preventable and predictable mechanical downtime.
  • Responsible for maintenance of manufacturing plant and equipment.
  • Works within weekly staff committee meetings to determine plant needs.
  • Directs the maintenance department by establishing work shifts and priorities.
  • Directs maintenance, inspection and repair of structures, equipment, and systems (roof, lift trucks, gas lines, boilers, elevators, sprinklers, etc.).
  • Maintains service contracts.
  • Supports corporate engineering manager as required to implement capital projects against established budgets and timelines.
  • Responsible for wastewater treatment systems.
  • Supervises the installation of waste treatment equipment.
  • Works to meet local, state, and federal water treatment regulations.
  • Assists contracted waste treatment engineering consultants.
  • Negotiates and contracts sludge hauling activities.
  • Assists maintenance personnel by troubleshooting equipment failures and breakdowns.
  • Responsible for compliance with OSHA standards on those items which apply to maintenance and waste treatment.
  • Responsible for back-up fuel systems and water and sewage.
  • Responsible for maintenance department purchases and contracted services.
  • Contacts, negotiates, and contracts with outside contractors for maintenance repairs and projects.


Requirements



  • A bachelor's, associate's, or trade/technical school degree in relevant technical field such as engineering, mechanics, equipment design.
  • Knowledge and application of pneumatics, hydraulics, construction design, welding, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and waste water treatment acquired through 5 to 10 years' experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills in mechanics, equipment design, and drafting
  • Interpersonal and supervisory skills necessary to lead others and coordinate projects and repairs with contractors.

  • Requires knowledge and skills in electrical, mechanical, and electronic applications acquired through 3-5 years of experience.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints, drawings, work orders and electrical schematics.
  • Requires the ability to troubleshoot and repair all types of equipment quickly and independently.
  • Requires working at excessive heights.
  • Required to wear non-slip shoes and appropriate personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs.

  • Report equipment conditions to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist to complete production by working in the line as instructed by Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain inventories of tools and supplies.

  • Perform any other duties as required by Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintain complete plant cleanliness. Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement Processes including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with demonstrated ability troubleshooting process related issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff and others contacted in the course of the work.
  • Ability to think and work effectively under pressure and accurately complete tasks within established times.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadline.
