Managed by 44 full time staff and over 185 student employees, the Carolina Union builds a sense of community as a unifying force on campus and provides students the space and resources needed to put theory into practice.
Position Summary
*The position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. *

The Carolina Union Student Organization ( CUSO) Purchasing Officer will work as member of the Carolina Union Business and Finance team. The Carolina Union Business and Finance Team provides finance and business services for the Carolina Union, and Carolina Union Student Organizations. The CUSO Purchasing Officer primarily serves as a resource for CUSO. Responsibilities include facilitation and management of day-to-day transactions for student organizations, including ensuring transactions are recorded properly and student organizations are staying within the allocated amounts of the budget. This position is responsible to the Carolina Union and Student Government for accurate and up-to-date maintenance of records and transactions made.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Demonstrated ability to follow guidelines, regulations, and policies and the ability to interpret and explain routine policies and procedures in a clear and consistent manner to customers.

* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of personal computer, word processing and Excel spreadsheets.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

* Demonstrated high level of detail and organization, professionalism and discretion, and an ability to adapt easily, follow through, and strong work ethic to complete tasks, and resolve issues.

* Demonstrated ability to maintain records with great accuracy and detail.

* Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.

* Demonstrated ability to handle work in a highly professional and confidential manner.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Demonstrated ability to work independently across multiple areas of responsibility.

* Demonstrated computer skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications.

* Familiarity with University finance policies and procedures.

* Experience with PeopleSoft or other Enterprise Resource Planning system in a higher education setting.

* Experience collaborating and sharing financial information with multiple stakeholders, including students.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
