Orbital Welder, 2nd Shift

At Chromalox, part of Spirax Group, we build
advanced thermal technologies for the world's most challenging industrial
heating applications. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we do it
better and have been doing it longer than anyone else.

Chromalox
started with an innovative solution 100 years ago when a self-taught engineer
invented the first metal-sheathed resistance heating element. It was this then-advanced
thermal technology that launched an entire industry.

That
pioneering, innovative spirit continues today. Built on opportunity and
innovation, Chromalox has grown to serve more global markets and industries. We
excel in industries that have high expectations. We are acknowledged as experts
at delivering solutions that exceed specifications, limit risk, and reduce
operating costs.

Join us as
we continue to provide solutions to our customers and the world!

The Role:

As a crucial part of our team, the Welder controls the production line's
pressure vessel parts, subcomponents, and non-pressure parts, playing a vital
role in our operations.

Additionally, you will showcase your expertise by welding metal components to
fabricate or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders,
using various advanced GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW, and SMAW welding processes.

In more advanced cases, it must be able to perform "open root"
techniques on pressure parts using GTAW and GMAW Processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Welds
metal parts together, using various welding processes, and may
be required to perform Oxy-Acetylene brazing; welds light gauge
parts, intermediate and heavy metal parts together.
  • Deposit
intermittent tack welds for fit-up and alignment of work
    assemblies.
  • Utilize
different welding-related equipment and tools, which may
be designated as a production line welder.
  • Must
be able to use jigs, fixtures, and tooling to assemble parts and
    components.
  • Conduct
in-process visual inspections of welded products or processes to evaluate
quality or performance; examine products or work to verify conformance to
    specifications.
  • Support
cross-training and demonstrate competency in all essential job
functions of the department working at different workstations as
    production needs require.
  • Maintenance
of a clean and orderly work area free of excess materials.
  • Follow
the company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs, and
    activities.

Required Experience:

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school or a combination of six months to one year of related training and/or experience with specialized welding skills.
  • At least 5+ years' of working experience, depending on the level of experience.
  • Proficiency in various manufacturing processes, including heavy equipment manufacturing, welding technology, materials technology, and manufacturing methods technology, is essential.
  • A broad knowledge of weld methods and equipment, safety requirements, and experience in GTAW, GMAW, SAW, SMAW & Brazing, pressure vessel, piping, pump, fluid transfer, and heat transfer design is preferred.
  • Proven working experience adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions, and decimals.
  • Proven experience understanding various measuring devices to meet drawing dimensions and specifications.
  • Proven working experience analyzing documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • You must pass employer welding performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of ASME, governmental agencies, or professional and technical associations.
  • An annual Visual Acuity Examination may be required.
  • Previous Orbital welding experience required.
