Position Summary

Takes a simple sketch or verbal information and uses a computer assisted drafting software program to develop drawings of floor and site plans which may include construction projects. Conforms to specifications and compliance to industry and internal standards.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Updates building drawings/floor plans with a unified standard for all CPS Energy facilities. This will include, but not limited to floor and reflective ceiling plans, electrical, voice, data, lighting, egress pathways, ADA compliance, building codes, allocated space, furniture, and employee locations
  • Takes field measurements of existing buildings and their systems and converts those measurements into rough schematics
  • Updates evacuation and site maps for all CPS Energy facilities to help ensure the health and safety of employees and visitors
  • Research evacuation and site maps to stay current with industry unified standards
  • Visit sites periodically to ensure that any changes are noted and updated
  • Communicates and consults with i.e., Workspace Management, Architect, Master Electrician, Electrical Engineer, Craftsmen, Furniture Specialists, and third-party associates
  • Completes work order requests and schedules
  • Completes timesheet data
  • Participates or attends training courses, studies training manuals or quick reference guides or performs hands-on training
  • Ensures that updated drawings and floor plans are filed and organized on our shared drive so any of our team members can locate them
  • Assists architects, engineers, and craftsmen to determine quantity and types of materials needed to support construction, repairs, and remodeling
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Specialized formal education with drafting software.
Proficient in MicroStation Design software and AutoCAD.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications

Mid-level working experience as a Draftsman with MicroStation or AutoCAD. Experience taking hand drawn sketches and field measurements and converting them to electronic CAD drawings, converting paper or raster images into vector format and converting AutoCAD drawings into MicroStation format. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the architectural field.

Required Certifications
Working Environment
Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi- functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel frequently to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
