The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Sterile Processing, this position manages the functions and resources of the high-level disinfection and sterilization practice to achieve established goals and outcomes. The Project Manager, Sterile Processing develops and organizes information focused on standardizing best practices related to instrument and endoscope reprocessing, training, data reporting, resource utilization, facilities planning, and quality assurance efforts in locations across the MGB MG Procedural & Ancillary locations. The role is expected to organize and lead multidisciplinary project teams, providing project management planning, tools, solutions, and communications to stakeholders by convening representation from Procedural & Ancillary Services, Sterile Processing, Infection Control, Quality and Patient Safety, Biomedical Engineering, and other key stakeholders as necessary. The incumbent may collaborate extensively with Physicians, Finance, Sterile Processing, Nursing, Administrative Directors and Managers, and PHS resources to execute initiatives. The role is expected to lend support to organize and help direct project teams in the Sterile Processing Department and will intermittently participate in Procedural Services initiatives.

Job Duties




  • Maintain documentation systems as processes evolve and become more standardized; develop a deep

    familiarity with SPM instrument tracking software and other record keeping applications to appreciate underused

    capabilities for structuring improvements in departmental workflows.



  • Collaborates with stakeholders to prepare comprehensive unit-specific remediation plans that may include the

    following elements, employee training, workflow development, inventory assessment and conversion, and

    design/construction.



  • Provides the Director with executive support and develops communication campaigns for all process

    improvement activities.



  • Assists in the implementation of operation standards, policies, and procedures related to the decontamination,

    reprocessing, sterilization, high-level disinfection, transportation and storage of inventoried items within the various

    reprocessing locations; actively audits workflows for compliance.



  • Develop and maintain systems and documentation to monitor the efficiency and success of the sterile processing

    program improvement initiatives.




Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 to 4:30 pm with some flexibility

Hybrid: This position will require travel to various MGBMG sites through MA and NH two to three days per week.

Qualifications

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent years experience
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Project management or analyst role, with demonstrated advancement of responsibilities.
  • Exposure to academic medical center environment, exposure to perioperative or sterile processing settings.
