ATI is seeking to hire an Operations Leader to support our Specialty Rolled Products business unit. This position will be based in Lockport, NY. (Buffalo, NY metro-region)

This position is responsible for controlling the production schedule by directing the production planning and control activities along with balancing maximum on time delivery at the lowest possible cost. This includes responsibility for all aspects of shift operations including Safety, Quality, Company Policies, Production, Operational Cost, Lean Manufacturing Procedures and On-Time Performance. Also, during coverage of night- or weekend-shifts, this will include oversight of maintenance professionals.

The shift for this position will be a four-on/four-off schedule covering shifts from 6:00am-6:00pm and 6:00pm-6:00am. Ability to cover both shifts, including weekends, is a requirement for this position.

Essential Functions



  • Responsible for assisting, directing, and training team to work in a safe manner to set-up and operate equipment to produce a product that meets the customer requirements in a cost effective manner.
  • Responsible for developing and promoting all team members and/or preparing employees for growth within the company and for certification and re-certification for each skill in critical and non-critical operations.
  • Responsible for reporting all issues of concern according to the company policy and company Ethic procedures and handling discipline problems per department and company policy.
  • Ability to work from schedules tables charts, general instructions and other data to meets the customer requirements including delivering the product on time.
  • Responsible for all equipment in area including requesting maintenance, ordering parts, and maintaining a neat and organized work area.
  • Ability to problem solve while following Quality, Department and Company policies and take an active part in generating departmental cost reduction savings.

Basic Qualifications



  • Three years of leadership/supervisory experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Shift-leadership or operations leadership experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • ERP Experience (Oracle, Maximo, etc.)


Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and Power Point at a minimum) required to accomplish day-to-day work activities and willingness to learn additional programs.
  • Sufficient knowledge of company, products, objectives and operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of production, operations, and materials planning, practices, and processes.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to successfully balance multiple projects at various stages with limited supervision in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with and through others to achieved desired results.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and timely thru the implementation of long-term solutions.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to foster collaborations, inspire confidence, and motivate individuals across diverse teams in a manufacturing environment in order to meet objectives.
