First Line Risk Manager - Treasury (Hybrid)

Overview

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

This position is a first line of defense risk manager responsible for consulting with, educating and supporting the Corporate Treasury Business Units (BUs) on the execution of the first line risk programs, promoting an environment of risk awareness and risk ownership across the Treasury BU while adhering to the Company's Risk Appetite and Corporate Strategy. Ensures timely identification and escalation of risks and issues. Consults with Treasury BU management on risk management to ensure the efficient and accurate execution of risk programs. This position serves as a subject matter expert and may provide guidance to other department associates as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Risk Strategic Activities - Works with Treasury Senior Leadership to implement risk management strategies. Provides BU risk considerations for business/strategic plans. Reviews risk program outputs, ensuring bank and regulatory alignment.
  • Risk Oversight - Serves as a subject matter expert to ensure appropriate and effective collaboration between the Treasury BU and Risk Management departments. Generates, analyzes, and utilizes risk reporting to identify potential risks that may impact the Treasury BU and provides any needed clarification.
  • Risk Program Implementation - Supports the implementation and maintenance of the organizations risk management programs within the Treasury BU: Key Indicators, Risk and Control Self Assessments, Issues Management, Operational Risk Events, Model Risk Management, etc.
  • Risk Collaboration - Assesses impact and provides education around current and emerging issues and regulatory requirements with senior management and key stakeholders. Participates in mandatory risk training and educates Treasury BU personnel on key risk programs and topics. Coordinates with other functions (2LOD risk, Audit, etc.) to ensure alignment with broader risk management and governance objectives.
  • Risk Governance - Maintains and utilizes strong understanding of business operations, risks and controls, and related regulatory guidance. Supports the Treasury BU's participation in relevant risk governance group meetings. Monitors and ensures the incorporation of Risk Limits into core Treasury BU processes. Provides necessary feedback and coordinates on relevant governance documents to support Treasury BU activities and manage risk. Prepares for external audits and provides materials to regulators. Works with senior management to execute the implementation of effective program policies, standards, and procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, OR Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Treasury functions (Liquidity Risk Management, Capital Management, CCAR, Investment Portfolio, etc.)

Preferred Education: Advanced Degree

Other Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of risk techniques, practices, and control frameworks
  • Knowledge of various banking and government regulatory requirements and processes
  • Ability to work effectively with associates, senior management, and various committees
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
