Description
Maintain the appearance and grounds of the estate in a clean and orderly condition to promote a high-quality environment for the guests and marketability of the community. The Groundskeeper is responsible for the care of the grounds to include landscaping including planting, seeding, lawnmowing and trimming, snow removal, care of animals, and tool and machine maintenance. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
- Conduct daily cleaning of the brick driveway, walkways and courtyard in order to provide a positive guest experience.
- Provide care to farm animals to include feeding and cleaning animal yard and house.
- Provide care to the trees, vines and shrubs by pruning, staking and planting new trees as needed.
- Maintain lawns and grounds during summer season including mowing, weeding, and trimming of all weeds around walks, flower beds, and walls using appropriate hand tools, as well as applying herbicides and reseeding when necessary.
- Assist in the gardens, as necessary.
- Clear snow and ice from parking lots, walkways and building entrances during winter season using snow removal equipment including snowplow, snow blower and shovel. Ensure that all areas are plowed before first employees arrive for shifts each morning.
- Place all lighting and greens on structures for the Holiday Season.
- Maintain all tools and machines on the Estate by ensuring that all repairs are completed timely and all scheduled maintenance is completed. Ensure that all gas and fuel cans are filled.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Training in horticulture preferred
- Knowledge of landscaping/gardening: cleaning, pruning, mowing, weeding and trimming
Special Requirements:
- Drivers' License
- Ability to be on call and work weekends and overtime on a regular basis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of landscaping: cleaning, pruning, mowing, weeding, trimming.
- Knowledge of fertilizer and/or pesticide applications.
- Must be able to understand the potential hazards and subsequent procedures involved in working around commercial chemical agents and various types of machinery.
Equipment Used:
- Computer, printer, telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, various hand and power tools, including but not limited to, lawn mower, trimmers, and snow blower.
- Computer Software: Microsoft Outlook and Word
- Safety Equipment: Safety shoes, gloves, and mask
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Duties can be physically demanding and repetitive, involving much bending, lifting, digging, and shoveling. Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive hand motions, use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel; crouch, kneel, crawl, bend, climb, shovel, push, pull and reach with arms and/or hands.
- Ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.
Environmental Conditions:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions including extreme cold, heat, weather hazards, vibrations, animal bodily fluids, potential for physical injury, atmospheric conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
