Overview:

We are looking for a Sr. Director, Strategy, Governance & Planning that demonstrates a high level of professionalism, prioritizing the establishment and execution of a robust IT governance framework and strategic planning process. Responsibilities include aligning IT strategy with business objectives, managing IT investments, design and operationalize priorities, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices. The four core capabilities of this role are focused on strategy, IT Operating Model, Governance, and the related Performance Management. This role will drive the management of the product and platform portfolio.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement across all of BT, a comprehensive, consistent and strategic approach to the IT governance framework, encompassing policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure consistent, transparent, efficient & effective approach to the way the IT organization delivers value to the business, including service delivery and risk management.
  • Responsible for the cross-functional management capabilities that enable effective execution of strategy, allowing the broader IT team to focus on the best way of applying IT in response to business strategy.
  • Orchestrate the governance mechanisms, ensuring that the appropriate decisions are made to implement the business & IT strategy; this includes defining, maintaining & managing IT operating model that is required to successfully execute to strategy.
  • Define, maintain & report on metrics related to portfolio health and governance processes to ensure early visibility to track progress of achieving IT objectives, performance & or budget risks.
  • Manage the portfolio of products and platforms within the Planning & Services organization, including monitoring the request / demand management process
  • Regularly evaluate vendor performance, ensure that vendors are meeting their obligations and delivering the expected quality of service, and identify opportunities to optimize vendor landscape and contracts
  • Oversee IT investment portfolio management, including project prioritization, resource allocation, and budget control.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to understand their needs and ensure IT services meet business requirements.
  • Lead and develop a team of business minded IT professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on key IT performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the organization and incorporating them into the IT strategy as appropriate.
  • Design and operationalize performance dashboards, prioritization processes, business case development, and budgets.
  • Lead the development and execution of the IT strategic plan, aligning it with the overall business strategy and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant IT regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Balancing IT investments across competing priorities to maximize business value.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to mitigate IT risks and ensure business continuity.
  • Building and maintaining a high-performing IT team with the skills and expertise to meet evolving business needs.
  • Achieve consistency in doing the right things and doing things right, maintaining an impartial, cross-enterprise perspective aligned with the CTO.
  • Successful implementation and adoption of the IT governance framework.
  • Alignment of IT strategy with business objectives.
  • Effective management of the IT investment portfolio within budget and timeline constraints.
  • High levels of stakeholder satisfaction with IT services.
  • Achievement of key IT performance metrics.
  • Compliance with relevant IT regulations and industry standards.
  • Provides leadership and direction to multiple teams through managers and professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of short- to mid-term talent optimization plans to support the execution of IT strategies.
  • Requires strong business-minded leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate teams, build relationships with stakeholders, and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to influence change even without having direct authority over stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field and 15+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 10+ years is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to drive governance and tracking of effectiveness of strategy and allocation of resources
  • Deep understanding of IT governance frameworks and best practices (e.g., COBIT, ITIL).
  • Able to see the big picture, leveraging strong knowledge of IT strategic planning, portfolio management, and performance measurement.
  • Demonstrated seniority & willingness to make tough decisions.
  • Experience with IT risk management and compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think clearly to uncover the root causes of barriers to execution, sharing insights.
  • Pragmatic solution orientation with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, reducing complexity.
  • Proficiency in relevant IT management tools and technologies.
  • Experience operationalizing modern planning and strategic execution methods (e.g. QBR, OKRs, PI planning) and agile planning processes
  • Innovative mindset, thinking creatively to find new ways of addressing key issues & opportunities.
