Position Highlights |
The Regional Business Manager, Mohave and Yavapai Counties is responsible for managing, directing, and controlling daily financial processes ensuring compliance with University policy and procedures. Oversees the review, approval, and reporting of all local expenditures, monitoring budgets, training on processes, procedures and policies, and assisting 20 faculty and programmatic staff with the delivery of their programs. Has extensive knowledge of principles, theories, concepts of job and industry standards. Duties & Responsibilities |
A. Finance:
- Work closely with Sr. Director of Finance and Administration and Manager of Finance and Administration in Tucson to ensure that monthly budget targets (income and expense) are met.
- Complete the monthly, quarterly and annual account statements to Senior Finance Directors for review and approval.
- Oversee the operations and development of Yavapai and Mohave County's finances, initiate, and approve business and HR tasks in the counties
- Oversee procurement and contracting activities in coordination with UA Purchasing department.
- Implement appropriate controls and effective business practices are in place, ensuring that there is separation of duties, confidentiality, security, compliance and records management is in alignment with UA policies.
- Collaborate with faculty, programmatic and administrative staff, ensuring that financial transactions are in alignment with the income and expense requirements set forth by Extension Administration.
- Train, support and supervise staff in the unit of policy and procedures and act as liaison between department staff and central offices ensuring accurate financial information is communicated.
- Prepare annual county budget request for County Director's approval.
- Complete financial statements, business activity reports and forecasts showing the financial health of Yavapai and Mohave Counties.
B. Human Resources:
- Assist staff in all aspects of human resources, answering questions and problem resolution, on-boarding, hiring and off-boarding.
- Oversee and help prepare documentation relating to recruitment, hiring, funding and payroll of new staff.
- Collaborate with County Directors in Mohave and Yavapai counties to provide coordination, control and advice on policies and procedures related to personnel matters.
- Responsible for the direct supervision of support staff in Yavapai county, and dotted line supervision for support staff in Mohave County.
C. Operations:
- Identify and implement methods to continually improve the quality and efficiency of the unit operations.
- Develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures.
- Analyze and plan for the needs of staff, capital equipment, and improvements, supplies and services, and takes appropriate action within budget limitations.
- Manage and oversee the department's space and needs for improvements.
- Address specific operational issues and develops recommendations and action plans towards their resolution.
- Asset Custodian - Manage record keeping for unit's assets. Provide annual reporting to Property Management Dept and SPS. Conduct annual physical inventory on non- capital and capital assets. Manage retirement and surplus of assets no longer in use.
- Manage DCC reporting and training support , and Vendor/independent contractor setup and payments.
D. Other Duties as Assigned:
- Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits.
- Assist with the scheduling and coordination of Faculty-staff, Extension Advisory Board, and other meetings, conferences, presentations, and events for the department.
- Work closely with County Director to interface with the Board of Supervisors as needed. This duty may include accompanying the County Director when meeting with a County Supervisor, routing Annual Budget appropriation, and the appointment/renewal of Advisory Board members.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required. Minimum of three years relevant work experience is required.
- Must have a valid driver's license and able to drive according to University Fleet Safety Policy. Mus also be able to provide own transportation and able to travel statewide.
