Compensation: $75000 - $85,000/ DOE + Benefits and Bonus

We seek an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our amazing team.

Job Summary:

The EHS Specialist will use the corporate model to generate, implement, and maintain a company Injury Illness & Prevention Program and ensure full regulatory compliance with all applicable environmental and government requirements. This position will be responsible for assisting and working with management to successfully implement the safety programs.

DUTIES:

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Adhere to safety rules and procedures.
  • Develop and Maintain EHS Procedures and Systems
  • Lead necessary changes and improvements within the organization to deliver a safer work environment and environmental safety.
  • Participate in Food Safety Audits, when needed.
  • Define, Develop, and Write policies, work instructions, and procedures related to the Safety of Employees and the Environment
  • Enforce all company safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure all outside contractors are complying with the company's Safety and GMP policies.
  • Responsible for all safety policies including federal, state, and local regulations and codes (OSHA)
  • Work with local, state, and federal agencies, Ex. CalEPA, CUPA, Fire Department, AQMD, CalOSHA

ENVIRONMENTAL:

Generate, Implement, and maintain General Industry Permit (Storm Water Pollution Prevention) including:

  • Monthly Storm Drain inspections.
  • Storm Drain Sampling.
  • Annual Report.
  • Assigned Tasks.
  • Generate, implement, and maintain Industrial User Permit (National Pollution Prevention Discharge Elimination System).
  • Generate, implement, and maintain Hazardous Waste Permit, Non-Hazardous Waste, Solid Waste and Universal Programs.
  • Generate, implement, and maintain Unified Program (California Environmental Reporting System)
  • Keeps current with all permits and applies for new permits when needed.
  • Maintain and enforce the Approved Chemical List.
  • Develop and Maintain Universal Waste Program.
  • Ensure the outside facility grounds are clean and free of debris that could pollution the environment.
  • Work with Maintenance Department to ensure all Hazardous/Non-Hazardous waste is stored and disposed properly.
  • Investigate all spills.
  • Maintain and Update Chemical SDS Binders.

HEALTH & SAFETY:

  • Generate, implement, and maintain Safety Programs (IIPP, HazCom, Hearing, LOTO, Industrial Vehicles, Confined Space, Fire Prevention, Fall Protection, First Aid/CPR, Heat Stress, Hot Work, Ladder, Respirator, Workplace Violence, Safety Committee and Emergency Response Programs, etc.
  • Maintain and update Lock-Out/Tag-Out program, including creating new procedures for new equipment and training all the employees.
  • Investigates all accidents and determines Root-Cause with analysis and corrective actions with due dates.
  • Maintain the company's Injury Prevention and Reporting Program, including assisting HR in incident investigations, and ensuring all first aid kits are full.
  • Ensure all safety switches and interlocks are functioning on machines and work with maintenance to resolve any issues.
  • Perform noise sampling as well as Annual Employee hearing Tests.
  • Conducts regular evacuation and fire/earthquake drills on all shifts.
  • Leads the Safety Committee and performs regular safety audits with findings and corrective actions.
  • Orders, distributes, and maintains inventory of PPE, safety, and first aid supplies.
  • Documentation and recordkeeping of EHS data to include tracking accidents in the OSHA recordkeeping system and maintain training matrix.
  • Assists facility personnel in the performance of Risk Assessments and Observational Behavior Audits

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years' EHS or environmental regulatory experience
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Knowledge of OSHA Laws.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Laws.
  • Experience in an FDA-regulated environment.
  • Prior certification in AED, First Aid/CPR, and OSHA standards
  • Superior verbal & and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Presentation skills
  • Ability to work well in group situations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
