As a Cellulosics Process Engineer based in the Newark, DE facility you will have a unique opportunity to take on a leadership role in many aspects of the site operations. This role is a part of the IFF Ingredients Operational Excellence team and will remain with IFF after the Pharma Solutions sale to Roquette, which is presently expected to close in the first half of 2025. After the separation of Pharma Solutions from IFF, this role will be the primary representative of IFF at the Newark site, with responsibility for:

  • Manufacturing Technology, including all aspects of process and product technology
  • Production coordination, managing production throughput, reliability of supply and utilization of the capacity and product mix, with guidance from relevant Supply Chain partners
  • Process improvement, to determine, evaluate, prioritize and implement all plant improvement projects, optimize process technology and close asset utilization gaps
  • Maintenance, to approve and prioritize maintenance work requests aligned to IFF's maintenance strategy
  • Reliability, to develop and communicate maintenance strategies and programs; analyze, prioritize and lead reliability projects; and provide technical input and support equipment reliability
  • Quality improvement, leading evaluation of process capability and efforts to maintain a high level for all products, working closely with the site Operations team and IFF quality team

This role will work closely with and receive functional guidance from the Cellulosics MT Director, who will be coordinating global efforts for Cellulosics Manufacturing Technology.

Additionally, as part of the Ingredients Operational Excellence team, this role will support projects outside of the Newark site as time allows.

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in chemical, mechanical or related engineering field.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member respectfully in a global diverse work environment.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Skills:

  • 2-5 years (or more) experience in a chemical/manufacturing plant (or related industry) with a focus on operations, technology, reliability, or PSM, preferably in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to consistently solve problems decisively and efficiently.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt certified, experience with 5S, and understanding of lean principles.
