The Group's efforts include developing software architectures and systems, bioinformatics tools, and AI algorithms to further the nation's efforts in chemical and biological defense, biosecurity, public and global health and warfighter performance. Job Description Our group is seeking a highly motivated data scientist to join our diverse and multi-functional team. As a Technical Staff member, you may be responsible for contributing to technical solutions as well as working with the sponsor, understanding their needs, translating them to a technical roadmap, and leading multidisciplinary teams to bring that to fruition. We are looking for an individual who has a strong background a technical field and who will further the Group's mission by developing and applying state-of -the-art data science technologies that can help us address key national stakeholder needs. Example areas of effort include, but are not limited to, assessing the AI data readiness of systems, prototyping reference data science architectures, and leveraging multi-omics, clinical, and imaging data to provide insights for therapeutic suitability for a range of diseases. As a Technical Staff member, you will be a principal investigator for projects, lead teams, define research plans, and provide technical and management oversight. Requirements Ph.D. in Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related scientific field or equivalent experience in technical analysis. In lieu of a Ph.D., a master's degree with 5+ years of directly related experience will be considered. Demonstrated ability to derive actionable information from multi-modal data. Ability to work collaboratively and lead highly interdisciplinary teams. Demonstrated skills in scientific writing, as well as development and clear presentation of technical materials to a wide spectrum of technical and non-technical audiences.
