Performs MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. May be required to alternate shifts, weekends, holidays and call as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned site(s). Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, serving on committees and participating in projects as requested. Assist MRI Coordinator with administrative duties as needed. Responsibilities
- Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation.
- Prepares patient for procedures.
- Provides patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others.
- Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
- Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort.
- Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
- Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
- Performs venipuncture, starts and maintains venous access.
- Prepares and administers contrast media.
- Verifies consent/screening form. Uses appropriate scripting, barriers and identifiers. Flexes hours/shifts to meet the needs of the dept.
- Assists the physician with interventional procedures.
- Practices aseptic technique and observes universal precautions.
- Evaluates images and data for technical quality.
- Manipulates and reconstructs digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident.
- Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
- Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, archives and submits images for physician review and interpretation.
- Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
- Provides practical instruction to partners and students. Completes projects requested by manager or coordinator in an agreed upon time frame.

Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited radiography or MRI program 2 years' experience as an MRI Technologist Certification and Licensure ARRT Radiography registration required ARRT MRI registration required. Approved CPR or BLS certification required. Skills and Abilities Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software and Order processing systems.
