The purpose of this position is to conduct nematode management experiments. Activities will be conducted in the field, greenhouse, and laboratory. Detailed knowledge of experimental design in the different contexts will be necessary. The incumbent will extract and enumerate nematodes from soil and plant samples. Conducting experiment under minimal supervision will be expected. Training of postdoctoral and graduate students, SRAs, junior specialists, and summer interns is part of the job responsibility. Coordination of field experiments and organizing the research groups activities is expected. Organizing and planning day-to-day activities of the research group in consultation with the PI. Feed-back and logistical arrangements with field staff at the Kearney Agricultural Research and Extension Center is crucial in this role. Effective and efficient use of resources is critical in the job duties. Supervision of junior specialists and summer interns belongs to the position tasks. Occasional business travel will occur to establish collaborative field and greenhouse work with collaborators. Excellent oral and written communication skills will be necessary to communicate with center personnel, and clientele from outside the University. The purpose of the position may require work outside the regular working hours.
This position is located at the Kearney Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Parlier, CA The full salary range for the Staff Research Associate is $66,431.27 - $106,830.32 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $66,431.27 - $70,000.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.
