The Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in the comprehensive management of neurological conditions. Our vibrant department comprises more than 75 full-time faculty in 12 subspecialty sections, supporting a spectrum of complex and innovative approaches to neurological care, a broad range of novel research programs, and a panoply of educational opportunities for trainees. The department offers access to the latest innovative treatments in one of the most rapidly advancing fields of medicine and features an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level-4 NEAC Epilepsy Center. Through collaborations with the O'Donnell Brain Institute, the department is building state-of-the art facilities for drug and device testing and bringing current and new faculty together for collaborative research on brain disease therapy. Job Duties* The Department of Neurology is seeking an experienced Grants & Contracts Specialist. As part of the department finance team, this Grants & Contracts Specialist position will be reviewing and managing existing and current awards, grants, and/or contracts. Specific job duties would include providing financial review of all current awards, grants, and contracts, assisting researchers with progress reports, submitting re-budgets and/or modification requests, and assisting with the filing and submitting of grant reports. Ideal candidates would have previous experience in University Grants & Contracts work, preferably in an academic medical center or healthcare setting. Candidates are encouraged to provide a cover letter detailing their past experience/skills and interest in the position. Candidates must possess and be able to demonstrate the following preferred qualifications/experience: * Basic understanding of accounting strategies and ability to review general ledger entries allowing the ability to drill into the detailed transactions * Oversee the duties from pre-award to post-award along the award lifecycle requiring analysis to provide further information for leadership to make informed decisions regarding budget * Day-to-day transactional activities within the award portfolio and reporting needs * Understanding of Uniform Guidance and Cost allowability will provide a great baseline for this position * Demonstrated customer service skills * Ability to interact with various communication styles * Demonstrated experience working effectively in a team environment to support multiple stakeholders * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. * Proactive work ethic * Process-oriented * CRA-certification is preferred SECURITY AND EEO STATEMENT .
