We are pleased to present the following position for your consideration:

Overview: Counselor, Substance Use

Heritage has full-time positions that work with individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Services provided include individual, group, and family therapy. In addition, services are provided both via in-person and telehealth sessions.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  1. Face-to-Face and video assessment, individual counseling, and group counseling services to adults;
  2. Telephone, video, and face-to-face contact with clients participating in substance use treatment;
  3. Completes written assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes for all assigned clients;
  4. Telephone and face-to-face engagement of clients who may have missed individual or group treatment, a doctor's appointment, or scheduled medications;
  5. Coordination and active participation in the referral and linkage to all healthcare including primary care, specialty care, testing and treatment for high risk conditions, mental health, dental, and vision;
  6. Assistance with developing positive supportive activities (re-establishing relationships with friends and family members, support groups, wellness activities, or identifying/participating in positive social activities that support recovery);
  7. Participate in a team-based approach to providing treatment including collaboration with other clinicians, nursing, healthcare providers, probation, DCFS, and other partners invested in the individual's recovery;
  8. Attend clinical staffing(s) to collaborate with providers to coordinate treatment including counselors, engagement staff, nursing, and clinical leaders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to engage individuals when they are asking for help and decrease barriers to accessing treatment;
  2. Ability to learn and practice evidence-based treatment services including medication assisted recovery;
  3. Knowledge of community resources including psychiatric, substance use, medical, and/or other community services;
  4. Ability to meet people where they are at in their recovery, be non-judgmental, and ability to build rapport quickly;
  5. Ability to navigate electronic health records.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Addiction Studies or other related field, or equivalent experience and training
  2. lllinois Certified Addiction Counselor (CADC),or licensed in Illinois as a LSW or LPC which supersedes the CADC within 2 years of employment in substance used disorder services.
  3. Valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance are required.
  4. Minimum of 21 years of age

Salary Range: $47,840 - $75,000 per year ($23.00 to $36.00 per hour) dependent on education, experience and licensure
