Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR's Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices. In the role of Mechanical Designer, we'll count on you to: Assists with the evaluation of projects to determine the most appropriate and economical systems to serve a facility Assists with the preparation of, or prepares, original design and preliminary and final design and of mechanical projects, including size, capacity, and economy Performs HVAC designs for projects such as single or multi-storied barracks; academic complexes; aircraft flight control or simulation facilities; administrative, dining, and multipurpose centers; medical complexes; schools, child development centers; chapels; industrial, manufacturing, and special process facilities; warehouse and storage buildings; machine shops; vehicle, weapons, and fuel cell repair shops; recreation and resource operations buildings; commissaries; refrigeration and cold storage buildings; aircraft corrosion control and paint stripping facilities Performs HVAC designs for projects such as single or multi-storied barracks; academic complexes; aircraft flight control or simulation facilities; administrative, dining, and multipurpose centers; medical complexes; schools, child development centers; chapels; industrial, manufacturing, and special process facilities; warehouse and storage buildings; machine shops; vehicle, weapons, and fuel cell repair shops; recreation and resource operations buildings; commissaries; refrigeration and cold storage buildings; aircraft corrosion control and paint stripping facilities. Participates in on-site inspections Produces plans, diagrams, reports, and assists with specifications Assists in preparation of cost estimates Assists in preparation of inspection reports Performs HVAC and mechanical calculations Performs drafting for HVAC and mechanical systems Works to closely with other engineers and drafters Work Environment 90/10% Office/Field work ratio Frequent work performed in a climate-controlled office environment Occasional work at job site Physical Abilities Frequently works in a sedentary position Occasional work performed while standing Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or similar from Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university Capability of working on multiple projects simultaneously Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems Strong oral and written communication skills Previous military experience AutoCAD and Revit experience is desirable Ability to lift (50lbs), bend, stop, and kneel #LI-KT1 Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Microsoft Office product experience General background-related experience An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
