Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a 100-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near the beautiful resort area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a short 10-minute drive to the ocean front. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older. The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions, and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization.

Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has a Director of Clinical Operations position available. This role execute operational initiatives and objectives to ensure the achievement of organization goals. The DCO at VBPC is responsible for assuring the planning, implementation, effectiveness and outcomes of high priority, vital organizational activities and initiatives as identified by the CEO and Organizational Leadership. This position will report directly to the CEO, and will function in an optimized, collaborative manner with VBPC Leadership and Departments for the purpose of continuous operational improvement across multiple domains of the organization.


Qualifications

Minimum education

Master's degree in a mental health discipline is preferred. If not, must have bachelor's degree in a mental health discipline and a minimum of 10 years' experience in the field.

Certified Consulting/Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D.), Psychiatric Nurse (M.S.N.), Clinical Social Worker (A.C.S.W.)

preferred. Registered Nurse with a minimum of 10 years' Behavioral Health experience is accepted.

Minimum Work Experience

At least five (5) years' professional experience in mental health or human services.

Required Skills

The incumbent needs a diversified background with strong technical, business, and managerial skills. Decisions are made, based on inputs provided by superiors, subordinates, and peers, consistent with company goals. Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Recommends to the CEO changes that would improve service delivery and implements changes and new programming as directed by the CEO.

Directs day-to-day operations of assigned operational initiatives and is responsible for scheduling necessary meetings, implementing services, and facilitates collaboration with other leadership staff.

Manage and assist in coordinating effort between support departments within the organization as applicable.

Responsible for quality assurance in the unit's service delivery, including clinical care and documentation.

Provides training and education to staff and peers when necessary to improve quality of patient care.

Supports CEO and Leadership Meet divisional goals in relation to safety, quality, and performance improvement.

Meet division financial objectives as defined by corporate business through the implementation of more efficient practices.

Coordinates with Leadership to assess and assist in transformational initiatives within operations to achieve growth and meet market needs (i.e. reducing AMA discharges, increasing length of stay, reducing ER response times and Intake throughput times)

Assist CEO with assigned duties and special projects as identified to prioritize situational hospital needs towards optimization achievement of monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals as set forth in the budget, including financial outcomes.

Coordinate needed support to operations areas through intradepartmental interface for optimized workflow and cost- efficient product, concurrently ensuring fidelity of quality and safety for patients and staff.

Participate in the implementation of product and systems technology to meet the division's objectives.

Establish, prepare, implement, revise, and maintain policies and procedures related to operation relative to key initiatives and projects lead by DCO, as needed.

Monitor impact of change for strategic initiatives, via outcomes data monitoring, feedback from colleagues, real time observation and other qualitive sources of data as available. Project outcome monitoring will include effectiveness and sustainability of implementations, in addition to modifications for further optimization as indicated.
