    About the Job

    The Principal Software Architect will provide Enterprise Architecture leadership, vision, and deliver optimal architecture designs, leveraging technology, evaluating design alternatives, and balancing long and short-term views and conflicting requirements (e.g., cost vs. performance). This is a great opportunity for a leader to bring their experience, business acumen, and architectural philosophies to the forefront of the day-to-day management of our projects and sprints.

    As a Senior Principal Software Architect, you will be responsible for mentoring & coaching other architects and establishing the Solution/Software Architecture best practices. As a thought leader in our Technology organization, you are a driving force behind the delivery of multiple business objectives that leverage and extend our technical platforms and position our business for growth.

    What you will do
    • Lead, steer & drive the Solution Architecture for Brightly's global SaaS products, platform & services and leverage the evolving technology landscape, tools & frameworks, and drive important technical decisions.
    • Support M&A activities. Provide detailed analysis and feedback during the technical due diligence phase of an acquisition.
    • Work with senior product and technology leadership to determine the efficacy of new product ideas.
    • Join our decentralized team of architects (Infrastructure, Systems and Software) via our Architecture Guild to help us rapidly move our technology strategy forward. This team partners closely with our Product Management organization to ensure that our technology strategy is aligned with our Product and Business strategies.
    • Design & architect for performance, resilience, reuse, comprehensibility, scalability, security, technology constraints, and tradeoffs.
    • Partner with business & Product Management leadership on short & long-term product strategy and ensure the software & system architecture support product & organizational strategy & helps in achieving business goals
    • Provide leadership and technical direction for architectural activities to ensure business objectives are achieved and instill and institutionalize best practices in code quality, design patterns, principles, and so on.
    • Lead early-stage client interactions; Guide clients as they develop confidence and comfort with approaches and integrate with their legacy tech investments.
    • Establish, shape & participate in our enterprise architecture domain governance process and model.
    • Write inventions, patents, and research articles that helps the organizations sell existing products & protect future products.
    • Be well-versed in the creation of disclosures, patents, white papers, blogs, research articles and industry demos and presentations. Be an expert in presenting the innovations to senior executives and top-tier customers.
    • Drive research, technology pathfinding, concept building, and rapid product development to mature innovations from cradle to product.
  • What you need
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
    • 13+ years of experience in the software industry building highly secure, scalable & reliable Solution Architectures and supporting engineers and architects that design and deliver large distributed systems - preferably in agile development, object-oriented systems realm with high availability.
    • Hands-on expertise with the end-to-end architecture of cloud-hosted applications.
    • Deep understanding of reactive & distributed architectural design, SOLID principles, Domain Driven Design principles & architecture patterns for reliable, resilient, performant, and cost-effective cloud services.
    • Deep understanding of cloud application security.
    • Technology enthusiast and passionate to lead from the front for critical product deliveries through breakthrough technologies.
    • Knowledge of digital ecosystems and clouds. You understand the importance and aspects of microservices, REST, gRPC, SaaS and PaaS, virtualization, containerization, DevOps, connectivity and IoT.
    • Know how to balance feature delivery and tech debt amortization while maintaining existing technology and innovation to satisfy business needs.
    • Experience developing code, full life-cycle experience developing, delivering to production, and maintaining high transactional commercial software products & services
    • Excellent knowledge of Agile methodologies and other software development best practices, tools, development processes to optimize product engineering throughput and quality
    • Excellent communication skills & ability to interact with diverse partners and translate and communicate complex architectural issues to less technical staff.
    • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • The ability to inspire, mentor and encourage teams
    • Collaborative in your solutioning approach, willing to recognize and explore alternative ideas
    • Willingness to work closely with all individuals involved in the full life cycle of our product

The pay range for this position is <$203,000 - $275,000> and the annual incentive target is <25%> of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
