Responsibilities

We are looking to add a VMware Systems Engineer/Administrator to our MIDS Program's high performing team. This position requires a VMWare system administration and Windows system administration background in support of the IRS MIDS contract and will handle a variety of VMWare and Windows Admin responsibilities which include: configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining the VMware and Windows environment. This position is responsible for ensuring that all servers operate at optimum levels. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be comfortable working in a team environment and willing to work flexible hours. On-call and after-hours support is a requirement of this position.

What you will do:

    Experienced in large scale Production Support Server Environment
  • Handling Data Center Operations with Business & Mission Critical applications
  • Handling escalated incidents or high critical tickets
  • Predicting Risk/Impact and Participating in Major Changes
  • Reporting & Performance Dashboards with Capacity Planning
  • Technical Team (5-10 members) & Vendor Management
  • Technical Transition & Documentation skills
  • Design, Migration and upgrading of existing infrastructure
  • Administer VMware ESX VSphere Infrastructure and VSphere OS Performance tuning & management
  • Provide the root cause analysis on the major incidents/problems
  • Monitoring of logs and alerts
  • Patch management and Antivirus management
  • H/W Troubleshooting & Vendor coordination
  • Firmware & BIOS Upgrade
  • Understanding of capacity planning, performance monitoring & tuning
  • Should have scripting knowledge for scripted installs, comfortable with using Virtual Center.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD. Additional years of experience maybe accepted in lieu of the degree
  • Experience with the following:
    • VMware vCenter
    • VMWare NSX experience
    • Windows Admin Windows and AD Admin,VMware /Citrix Admin
    • Infra Performance and Optimization, Windows Admin
  • Ability to conduct/lead oral status/technical interchange meetings with clients on small to medium sized engagements
  • Strong knowledge on VMware management tools
  • Remote system administration experience
  • Incident, Problem, Change Management
  • Configuration Management
  • Virtual Machine management experience
  • Managing and Troubleshooting ESX Server SAN vSphere Capacity Planning & Forecasting
  • Virtual Network/Storage Architecture and Connectivity planning experience
  • Strong knowledge of troubleshooting skills on Windows servers & VMware
  • Familiarity to Linux environment
  • Strong knowledge of Storage & Networking concepts
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have resided in the U.S. three of the last five years
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge on any monitoring tools like SNOW, VROPS, VRO , HPE One View
  • PowerShell/PowerCLI Scripting skills
  • Datacenter Architecting - Wintel Stack

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
