Temple University's Division of Student Affairs is searching for a Program Coordinator for Communication Access (Disabilities Resources and Services).
Hourly Rate: $28/hr
This position is Monday through Friday - 20 hours/week.
Job Summary
The Program Coordinator for Communication Access serves as a member of the Disability Resources and Services (DRS) team and reports to the Director of Disability Resources & Services. The coordinator is responsible for coordinating reasonable accommodations and support services for students with disabilities. Reasonable accommodation coordination involves conducting intake interviews, making recommendations regarding reasonable accommodations, determining accommodations appropriate to the specific disability and consistent with disability law and standards of practice in higher education, and providing follow-up and support to students. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of sign language interpreters and CART services for registered students. This position also serves as a liaison and resource for the university community on matters related to Deaf and Hard-of Hearing students. The Program Coordinator for Communication Access works to support the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and Temple University and contributes to a positive university experience for every student and is accountable to all Division of Student Affairs (DoSA) Values. The DoSA values are Excellence, Inclusion, Innovation, Integrity, and Respect. Performs other duties as assigned.
This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.
IMPORANT NOTE: This position requires proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in a field related to education, psychology, or social services.
* Three years experience specifically working with college-level disability services.
* Demonstrated experience partnering with community agencies to enable greater access to and participation in higher education by persons with a disability.
* Expertise in evaluating documentation of disability, determining eligibility for services and accommodations, and generating a plan for the provisions of services and accommodations.
* Experience working with students who are Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing and/or students with language/ communication disability.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrated mastery of relevant legislation - Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, and related standards.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Outstanding organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred
*Master's degree in a field related to education, psychology, or social services.
*Experience determining and implementing accommodation, including clinical and fieldwork accommodations in pre-professional, professional, and graduate school post-secondary settings.
