Job Overview

Children's Hospital Colorado's Rehabilitation and Therapy Services offers a comprehensive 12-month pediatric hand therapy fellowship for occupational therapists interested in treating pediatric hand and upper extremity conditions. We provide clinical and didactic opportunities that give the fellow experience caring for various injuries and conditions of the upper extremities in children and young adults. The Occupational Therapy Hand Fellow provides patient care as assigned by supervising clinical faculty. The position is responsible for completing patient charts and documentation according to departmental standards. The Fellow provides occupational therapy services in the orthopedic hand program, including evaluation, treatment, follow up and documentation using general competencies for inpatients and/or outpatients referred to the OT department; provides supervision for therapy aides/assistants and students with specific patients or tasks as appropriate; and provides continuous consultation and education to patients and families. The Fellow will complete all requirements for an AOTA accredited fellowship program.

This position will be open to applicants between October 7, 2024 and January 24, 2025. Candidates will be screened by the hiring team and those who are selected will be contacted by mid-February to schedule preliminary interviews, which take place (virtually) at the beginning of March. Finalists will be scheduled for an additional (virtual) interview in March, and a hiring decision is anticipated to be made by the end of March. Department Name: Broomfield Occupational Therapy
Job Status: Full-Time; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday at the following locations: North Campus, South Campus, and Highlands Ranch Therapy Care. Shifts will generally be 8 hours between 9am and 5pm, but could vary slightly based on needs of the clinic.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION -Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
  • EXPERIENCE - At least one clinical rotation in pediatric OT or a hand therapy setting and six (6) months of experience working with children in any clinical or non-clinical capacity such as babysitting, teaching, coaching, camp counselor or leading a youth group.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR
  • LICENSURE - Colorado State Registration for Occupational Therapy - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Completes all requirements of AOTA (American Occupational Therapy Association) accredited fellowship program.

Completes all requirements included in the Standards for Continuing Competence of an Occupational Therapy Fellow (As written by the AOTA)

Works with primary mentors directly on a weekly basis, in the context of direct patient care and specialty training regarding all care areas of the Fellowship Program Learning Objectives and designed by the fellowship program.

Coordinates, develops, and conducts major fellowship project / poster presentation, and additional projects as assigned by fellowship coordinator, mentors, faculty and program coordinator.

Provides consultation and education to families.

Collaboration: Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other providers to ensure continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services.

Documentation: Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location and time frames.

Evaluation/Re-evaluations: Independently evaluates children from birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.

Financial Responsibility: Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.

Leadership and/or Professionalism- Demonstrates professional behaviors; adheres to hospital and departmental policies and promotes personal and departmental development through participation in development activities to improve the patient experience and quality goals of the department and hospital.

Treatment: Treat children ages birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnoses, and in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services. Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Program Coordinator and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $58,900.08 to $88,350.12
Hourly Salary Range: $28.32 to $42.48
