The Duke Clinical Research Institute invites applications for a Research Scholar Position. The successful candidate will join the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) and conduct clinical research on respiratory diseases under the direction of Dr. Scott Palmer and as part of the Medicine Plus TA.

Expectations:

The scholar will lead and contribute to various projects related to implementation science, pragmatic clinical trials, care pathway design and evaluation, secondary analyses, patient registries, quality improvement programs, real-world evidence, patient reported outcomes, and biomarker data collection and analysis.

The scholar will also collaborate with the respiratory team in supervising research staff and trainees and participating in educational conferences and seminars. The candidate should have expertise in clinical research methodology and biostatistics. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership and research skills in the professional society and pulmonary medicine.

The scholar will have opportunities to design and conduct clinical research. He or she will collect and analyze data, write and publish manuscripts, attend seminars and lectures offered by the DCRI, and present data at conferences.

The scholar will follow good scholarly and research practices, such as:

• Having open and timely communication with the mentor(s) and colleagues about all aspects of the research
• Adhering to the Professional Conduct and other relevant conduct policies of Duke University schools
• Adhering to science culture and accountability plan ensuring transparent and reproducibility of analysis and study results
• Complying with all applicable University and departmental policies and procedures

Min Degree Requirements:

The Research Scholar Appointee holds a MD, PhD, or DVM. Candidates with non-US degrees may be required to provide proof of degree equivalency. Additional master level degrees in clinical research such are preferred.

The term of the appointment is limited to no more than 3 years

The appointment is not part of a clinical training program.

The research scholar functions under the supervision of a mentor at Duke University.
