About the team

Worldpay powers 2.2 trillion payments annually across 146 countries in over 135 separate currencies with over a million-merchants supported globally. Worldpay is the largest acquirer by volume globally, we provide a reliable, secure, and scalable payments platform 24x7 365 day a year.

Being part of the 200 strong Infrastructure Services organization, you'll help to engineer and deliver the core infrastructure services that power our payments platform. We're responsible for running some very critical systems, maintaining 20,000 servers via an automation platform, thousands of databases and petabytes of storage hosted from our data centers and public cloud.

We are looking for talented individuals to join the Infrastructure Services organization; you'll be a self-starter, possess an analytical mindset and be a change agent.

What you'll own

  • An Oracle Database Administrator Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Oracle databases and infrastructure within an organization. This includes installing and configuring Oracle servers, managing user accounts, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring database security.
  • Proficiency in Oracle database technology: A strong understanding of RAC, ASM, performance tuning, HA, backup and recovery. Knowledge of command-line utilities, file systems, networking, and security features is also important. Understanding of Oracle Database Architecture including the latest version of Oracle 11g, 12c & 19c.
  • Database administration: Hands-on experience in Oracle database administration tasks on such as installing, upgrading, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining databases, as well as managing user accounts, permissions, and database resources.
  • Exadata skills: Experience in engineered system maximum availability architecture. Clear understanding of Exadata features like flash cache, storage index, HCC and IORM. Troubleshooting experience in areas such as RAC, ASM, Exadata, performance tuning, data guard (physical and logical) and DG broker. Exadata Full stack patching and upgrade.
  • Security expertise: Understanding of security best practices and compliance related to databases that are essential for securing databases and protecting against cyber threats.
  • Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary for diagnosing and resolving database issues efficiently.
  • Communication skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are important for collaborating with team members, documenting system configurations, and providing technical support to end users.

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Practical experience in the role can be used in place of formal education.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Oracle Certified Expert (OCE) or Oracle Certified Specialist (OCS) are looked at favorably.
