Communications Specialist - Patient Logistics
Shift: Full-Time - Days
OU Medical Center - Oklahoma City, OK
General Description: Under general direction, responsible for assisting with hospital through put by regulating bed availability throughout OU Medicine Inc. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. General Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma/ GED equivalent required. Some college preferred-medical focus. Experience: Two (2) years of hospital or medical experience in admitting, patient registration/appointments, BedBoard or related area and achieve a score of 20 words per minute on typing test OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one (1) year of relevant college course work for each year of the required experience. NOTE: No substitution is permitted for the typing test. Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of office procedures and equipment. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, in following verbal and written instructions and in typing accurately. Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills preferred. Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment to coordinate work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on providing customer service to internal and external customers. Familiar with or ability to learn Microsoft Office, Teletracking and other software applications. Knowledge of commonly used hospital based computer programs preferred. Ability to relay information accurately and concisely. Ability to work closely with multiple disciplines in the healthcare setting. Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks.
