INTERNAL RECRUITMENT TO UC DAVIS ONLY. The Ken and Cindy Blumenthal Endowed Professorship for Pancreatic Cancer Research provides additional funding to a current UC Davis academic appointee in the Clinical X series. The additional funding may support the endowed chair holder in areas of Pancreatic Cancer Research directly related to the purpose of the endowment. Application Window Open date: October 7, 2024 Most recent review date: Thursday, Oct 24, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Monday, Jun 30, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The holder of the Ken and Cindy Blumenthal Endowed Professorship for Pancreatic Cancer Research will be a senior faculty member in the School of Medicine whose specialty is in the area of pancreatic cancer research and whose distinguished scholarship is nationally recognized. The initial term of the Ken and Cindy Blumenthal Endowed Professorship is for five years, with the option of reappointment per regularly established University procedures for endowed chair/professorship appointments (APM 191, UCD 191). Individuals selected will be expected to effectively interface with physicians and scientists and participate in collaborations within the UC Davis research community. The department seeks candidates with a track record of excellence and leadership in research at an academic institution and a demonstrated ability to establish extramural funded research programs as evidenced by receipt of significant funding from national agencies. In addition, the holder of the Endowed Professorship is expected to: * Engage in teaching and scholarly activities focused in the area of pancreatic cancer research. * Teach clinical best practices to medical students, residents, and fellows in the patient care oncology setting at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. * Conduct pancreatic cancer research and perform service to the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and the broader community in which it is situated. * Provide leadership in the area of pancreatic cancer research through team-based programs and be fully engaged in activities in the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. * Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole.
